Golden State Warriors 2003-04 Roster and Stats

The 2003-04 NBA season was another challenging year for the Golden State Warriors. Under head coach Eric Musselman, the Warriors ended the season with a 37-45 record, placing them 10th in the Western Conference and missing the playoffs for the tenth consecutive year. Despite the team showing some improvements from previous seasons, consistency remained elusive.

The Warriors were led by the dynamic duo of Jason Richardson and Mike Dunleavy Jr. Richardson, in particular, had a standout season, averaging 18.7 points per game and continuing to develop as a key player for the franchise. Dunleavy contributed significantly, providing versatility and averaging 11.7 points per game.

During the offseason, the team made notable roster changes, including the acquisition of point guard Speedy Claxton, which added depth to the backcourt. Claxton’s presence, however, was not enough to turn the team’s fortunes around. The Warriors also saw the emergence of young talent like Troy Murphy, who averaged 10.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game, offering hope for the future.

While the Warriors showed glimpses of potential, their inability to maintain a solid defensive presence and close out games consistently hindered their progress. The 2003-04 season served as another rebuilding phase, as the franchise aimed to create a more competitive roster and break their prolonged playoff drought in the coming years.

  • Regular Season Record: 37-45
  • Playoff Result: Did not make playoffs
