Zach Randolph

Zach Randolph played a defining role in the Memphis Grizzlies’ rise to relevance during the 2010s, becoming the heart and soul of the team’s iconic “Grit and Grind” era. Acquired in 2009, Randolph transformed both the franchise and his own reputation, evolving from a talented but volatile scorer into a dependable, blue-collar leader beloved by fans and teammates alike.

A powerful and skilled low-post scorer, Randolph averaged over 16 points and 10 rebounds per game during his eight seasons in Memphis. He was a two-time All-Star with the Grizzlies and made the All-NBA Third Team in 2011. That same year, he led Memphis to its first-ever playoff series win, upsetting the top-seeded Spurs and signaling a new era for the franchise.

What set Randolph apart was his relentless effort, physical style, and unshakable toughness—traits that embodied the identity of Memphis basketball. Alongside Marc Gasol, Mike Conley, and Tony Allen, he helped the Grizzlies become a perennial playoff team and a feared opponent.

Off the court, Randolph was deeply involved in the Memphis community, earning admiration for his charitable work. In recognition of his impact, the Grizzlies retired his No. 50 jersey—an honor befitting a true franchise legend.
