Wendell Carter, Jr. was drafted by the Chicago Bulls with the 7th overall pick of the 2018 NBA Draft out of Duke University. While a productive player for the Bulls, Carter, Jr. was traded to the Orlando Magic as part of the 2021 Nikola Vucevic trade. In this trade the Orlando Magic traded Nikola Vucevic and Al-Farouq Aminu to the Bulls for Carter, Jr., Otto Porter and two future first-round draft picks. These draft picks turned into Franz Wagner and Jett Howard. While Vucevic was the center piece of the trade, Wendell Carter, Jr. proved to be a capable replacement for the departed “Vooch” in Orlando.
