Philadelphia 76ers 1997-98 Roster and Stats

The 1997-98 Philadelphia 76ers season marked a period of transition as the team sought to improve its fortunes. Led by second-year guard Allen Iverson, the Sixers aimed to build around their young star. Iverson showcased his scoring ability, averaging 22.0 points per game, but the team struggled overall.

Philadelphia finished the season with a 31-51 record, placing them sixth in the Atlantic Division. Despite their losing record, the season was notable for Iverson’s development and the acquisition of Larry Hughes in the NBA Draft, which added youth and potential to the roster.

Head coach Larry Brown, in his first season with the team, started implementing his system, focusing on defense and discipline. Although the 76ers did not make the playoffs, the foundation was being set for future success. The 1997-98 season was a stepping stone towards the team’s resurgence in the early 2000s.

  • Regular Season Record: 31-51
  • Playoff Result: Did not make playoffs
