Franz Wagner
A native of Berlin, Germany, Franz Wagner is a German basketball player who made his way to the NBA via the Michigan Wolverines and college basketball. Drafted by the Orlando Magic with the 8th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Franz Wagner quickly became a top player for the Magic. A 6’10 wing who can score, pass and handle, Wagner is widely considered one of the best combinations of size and skill versatility in today’s league.
The Orlando Magic are obvious believers in Wagner as they extended the young wing via the Rookie Extension during the summer of 2024 to a 5-year, $224 million extension which keeps Wanger in Orlando through the 2029-2030 season.
Paired with Paolo Banchero, the Orlando Magic have built their roster around two young wings who both have size, scoring and playmaking ability. The Magic have set their course for the years ahead, and it’ll be the front office’s job to build and evolve around these two core players.
