Paolo Banchero
When the Orlando Magic selected Paolo Banchero with the no. 1 overall draft pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, it was the fourth time the Magic took the first pick in an NBA Draft (although, we often ignore selecting Chris Webber in in the 1993 NBA Draft with the no. 1 pick because we traded him moments later). Like the previous two no. 1 picks (that we kept) in Shaq and Dwight, it appears Paolo Banchero was yet another home run selection. Can Paolo lead the Magic to the NBA Finals as Shaq and Dwight both did? That remains to be seen, but all signs are pointing upward for the young superstar of this new era of the Orlando Magic.
Paolo Banchero made his mark early with a rookie season averaging 20 points per game and grabbing the Rookie of the Year award. In his second season, he led the Magic back to the NBA Playoffs, and then showed that the bright lights were not too much for Banchero.
