October 28, 2024 – Against the Indiana Pacers, in front of the home crowd, Paolo Banchero scored his first 50-point game of his career. Paolo officially became the second youngest player ever with a 50/10/5 game, behind only Lebron James.
With Franz Wagner battling illness, Paolo Banchero took the team on his shoulders and delivered a performance for the ages despite only four games into his third season in the league. Banchero scored 37 points in the first half – tying Tracy McGrady’s points in a half record. But even with the massive scoring responsibility, Banchero battled defensively the entire night, rebounded the ball and had 9 assists. Truly a complete, all-time performance for one of the brightest young stars in the NBA.
Jalen Suggs delivered an outstanding performance as well with 25 points and 6 three-point shots made.
Despite the exciting first half with 37 from Banchero and a commanding lead over the Pacers, Indiana dominated the third quarter and had the lead into the final quarter of the game. The Orlando defense found itself and held the Pacers to 17 points in the 4th quarter and hit enough shots late to secure the win. The Orlando Magic beat the Indiana Pacers by a score of 119-115.
