Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan’s tenure with the Washington Wizards (2001–2003) was unlike any other part of his legendary career. Coming out of his second retirement at age 38, Jordan joined the Wizards not only as a player but also in an executive role. While he was no longer the dominant force of his Chicago Bulls prime, Jordan still showed flashes of brilliance, averaging over 20 points per game and delivering memorable performances, including a 51-point outburst against the Hornets. His time in Washington was less about championships and more about mentorship, as he influenced younger players and helped maintain fan interest in the franchise. Off the court, his presence boosted ticket sales and national visibility. Though the Wizards didn’t reach the playoffs during his two-season stint, Jordan’s impact was cultural and symbolic—demonstrating his undying love for the game and leaving an indelible, if complicated, chapter in Wizards history.
